One theme that ran through Drew’s life was his love of The Batman. The cover photo for this article was professionally done. Wendy patiently tried to convince Drew that perhaps wearing his Batman t-shirt wouldn’t be the best choice of clothing for the shoot, but Drew was not to be persuaded. This was his favourite shirt.

Drew didn’t have just one Batman outfit, he went through a few t-shirts over the years.  The biggest challenge we had was getting him out the current t-shirt, so it could be washed.

From comic books and early animation, the 1990s saw the release of an altogether more mature treatment of The Batman in an animated series that ran for a few years. This was an early passion for film Drew & I shared, and we would impatiently wait for each new weekly episode.

There were various attempts to put The Batman on the big screen with varying degrees of success. Sometimes they were overblown or silly, and other times the casting or plots let the side down.

Finally, Christopher Nolan got it right with The Batman Trilogy.  Drew & I got together to watch each episode in the cinema.  When the DVD box set came out, we gave it to each other for Christmas.  Great minds…
